"Kindness Toward Ourselves"

By Reverend Merry Shaver

The Master Teacher Jesus said our first job is to love God and our second is to love others as we love ourselves. The key to this spiritual practice lies at the end of that sentence: we must start by loving ourselves as God loves us. We must duplicate the nature of God as love in our own hearts and minds. We cannot begin to embody God-quality love for others and for circumstances until we’re able to embody God quality love for ourselves. As we stand in the conviction of unconditional positive regard for ourselves, those seeds are planted and we being to reap the rich harvest of Perfect Love.
