Perfect love casteth out fear …

A Ray of Light

A very wise doctor and two of his young cancer patients were lecturing before an audience. The doctor told his listeners, “We must develop unconditional love. Do you know what that means? We must love so completely that it doesn’t matter to us whether we get anything back or not. Then and only then will we know real peace of mind.” He proceeded to tell the audience about envisioning a broad ray of light descending into them from above, going through their hearts and out to the heart of the person to whom they are sending their love. He described how he did this with a thirteen-year-old girl, who was exhibiting pain and fear at a hospital. He said he did it unconditionally — without the expectation that anything would happen — and when he engulfed himself and the girl with this Love-Light, her pain stopped and she slept!

One of his patients, a nineteen-year-old girl, told the audience of her lesson in forgiveness. She recently developed cancer and her father told her to be extra nice to her mother. “Why?” asked the girl.

“She is on the brink of a nervous breakdown because of your disease,” he responded. The girl was crushed by this remark, thinking her father was blaming her for her mother’s condition. When she understood that her father spoke from fear, she forgave him and loved him.

Every negative emotion you can imagine stems from fear, and fear is merely a misuse of the law of love. So, whenever you see someone acting out a negativity, just know that deep inside that person is very afraid. Then comes the Divine assignment … give that person unconditional love.

From now on I give unconditional love, without expecting anything in return.

As I read this, I feel my faith increase with each and every breath,

and I become what I was created to be …

a ray of Light
